 CWS, West Africa Delegation Tell U.S. State Department, Legislators: ‘No Lasting Peace– No Development’
A member of the CWS-hosted delegation, Ghanaian delegate Baffour Amoa, is Secretary General of the Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA).
During the delegation’s visit, UN and U.S. officials reinforced the group’s and CWS’ premise: that the churches in Africa are playing a vital role in empowering civil society and promoting peace with justice.

The court declared that the votes of the state delegation at the National Convention for Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates must be apportioned and cast as prescribed by Wisconsin law, and that the State's delegates could not for that reason be disqualified from being seated at the Convention.
The Wisconsin statute states that "[i]n each year in which electors for president and vice president are to be elected, the voters of this state shall at the spring election be given an opportunity to express their preference for the person to be the presidential candidate of their party." Wis. Stat.
While the Wisconsin delegates to the National Convention are chosen separately, after the primary, at caucuses of persons who have stated their affiliation with the Democratic Party, those delegates are bound to vote at the Convention in accord with the results of the open primary election.

In 1788 the President of the United States in Congress Assembled official duties were replaced by President George Washington (executive branch), Chief Justice John Jay (judicial branch), President of the US Senate John Adams and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Frederick A.C. Muhlenberg (legislative branch) under the new US Constitution.
In 1774 he was sent as a delegate to the Continental Congress and was one of the most conservative members of the entire delegation.
The current US President conducts many of the same duties today but is not permitted, under the 1787 Constitution, to vote, act as a presiding judge or to receive, open, and hold Congress' mail or serve as a judiciary official of the United States.

An April 17, 1998, memo from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture to the Wisconsin state veterinarian put the state on notice that an elk from a herd that been diagnosed with the brain disease had been sold to a farm in Wisconsin.
Jay Inslee of Washington, the top Democrat on the House Resources subcommittee on forests and forest health, cited 1998 memos to and from state officials raising the possibility of chronic wasting disease being introduced to the state by game farm animals.

In a letter to members of the Wisconsin Congressional Delegation, the Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Glickman, Breske urged that plans to expand the Roadless Initiative to an additional 15,000 acres in northern Wisconsin and restrict timber harvesting on nearly 69,000 acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest be abandoned.
