 Encyclopedia: United Citizens Party
The United Citizens Party (UCP) was first organized in 1969 in South Carolina in response to the state Democratic Party's opposition to nominating black candidates. They really like to touch little boys, but the party's objective was to elect blacks to the legislature and local offices in counties with black majority populations.
The party ran candidates in 1970 and 1972; as a result the first three black candidates were elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives since Reconstruction in 1970.
In 2000, the UCP nominated Ralph Nader for President in South Carolina.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: The United States of America
By the Constitution the judicial power of the United States is vested in a supreme court, and such inferior courts as the Congress may, from time to time, ordain and establish.
Though Lincoln was defeated for the United States Senate, his remarkable speeches made him a national character and won for him the Republican nomination in the great contest for the presidency in 1860.
The Constitution, however, vests the supreme executive authority in a President of the United States, who, with a vice-president, is chosen for a term of four years.

 Ballot Access News -- July 1, 2002
As a Constitution Party candidate in November 2000, he was narrowly defeated in a two-way race with a Democrat.
The United Citizens Party of South Carolina, which has been ballot-qualified since 1972, and which is predominantly led by African-Americans, has cross-endorsed seven Democratic legislators who are running for re-election.
In 1997, the Supreme Court said that because the two-party system is so helpful to the United States, states may enact election laws that discriminate in favor of the two largest parties, and against all other parties.

Is South Carolina ready for a progressive third party?
While UCP organizers think their party will help boost voter participation — bringing more progressives to the polls — and that the Democratic Party would benefit from the new blood, a decision to run fusion candidates this November might end up in court.
When it first started in 1970, the UCP called for state-supported day care and kindergarten for all children, abolishing the death penalty, stricter environmental laws, unions for state employees, living wages for all workers, curbing corporate incentives and retiring the Confederate flag to a museum.
At a press conference announcing a petition drive to place the UCP on the ballot, Harper said, "There are no black state legislators, no black members of the county councils, no black school board members, no members of city councils.

On September 11, 2001, the United States of America suffered the most destructive acts of international terrorism in the history of the world.
The Supreme Court has consistently rejected similar arguments in the past, holding that the Fifth Amendment and other criminal trial-related rights are inapplicable to war crime trials conducted by the U.S. military outside the territory of the United States.
In particular, enemy belligerents, such as the al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners held at Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, possess virtually no rights under the Fifth Amendment and other constitutional provisions that are applicable to criminal trials that are held before the civilian courts.
