 Weekly Worker 297 Thursday July 15 1999
One only has to remember the execution of two British army servicemen by Irish republicans after they 'strayed' into a republican funeral procession in the Six Counties in 1988.
After all, why would an "RUC supporter" be on a republican march anyway?
The IBT's statement about defending the Spartacists "or any other leftist" are belied by the fact that "any other leftist" would not falsely accuse someone of being a supporter of the Royal Ulster Constabulary on a march organised by the Irish republican movement.

An Open Letter to a Marxist Bulletin comrade
They were an attempt to suppress political debate on matters pertaining, even though in this case indirectly, to his own political role.
Firstly, to undercut an apparent impulse by the most senior IBT supporter in Britain to cloud the political differences between Revolution and Truth and the IBT with hysteria.
While the sexual charges were malicious inventions, the more mundane charges against Logan were essentially true -- that, aping James Robertson, he had waged campaigns to humiliate, break and if necessary drive out, comrades who were critical of him as leader of the Australian Spartacist group, or had political ideas of their own.
