 Robertson County
The county is bounded on the north by Limestone and Leon counties, on the east by Brazos and Madison counties, on the south by Burleson County, and on the west by Milam and Falls counties.
The center of the county is at 31°00' north latitude and 96°30' west longitude, near the county seat of Franklin.
The county's first school, Franklin Academy, was organized in Old Franklin in 1838, and in the years prior to the Civil War several churches operated private schools.

 History of Calvert, Robertson County, Texas
The Republican party in the county drew much of its strength from black voters on the plantations in the Calvert area, and for a number of years the party was able to elect blacks from Calvert to county and state office.
Originally constructed in 1875 as the Robertson County Courthouse, the county seat was moved to Franklin before its completion.
County records were moved into makeshift county offices and a plan was formulated for a new office complex.

Prior to statehood this area was one of the counties in Mero District and called Tennessee County, located north of Nashville on the Kentucky border.
One of the first acts of the new state was to appropriate Tennessee County's name for its own use and to divide that county into Robertson and Montgomery Counties.
By 1910 the county's population was 25,466, including 6,492 black citizens.
