 William Henry Morrison
WILLIAM HENRY MORRISON has fulfilled his civil obligations spiritedly and with a large measure of social service, having been an educator, a farmer, a business man, and for a number of years, has conducted his extensive affairs from his home in Stockton.
William Henry Morrison grew up on his father's farm, attended the rural schools of Richland County, and afterwards graduated from Carroll College at Waukesha.
His father, H. Morrison, was born in Ohio in 1824, was reared and married in that state, spent all his life as a farmer, although he came of a family of educators and ministers.

The same reorganization act stipulated that the president's appointment of a Librarian of Congress thereafter was to be approved by the Senate.

This vid cap of frame 313 of the zapruder film sickens some people when they realize that this clearly shows Secret Service Agent William Greer, shooting JFK.
On page 215 of his book "Behold a Pale Horse," the late William Cooper says that "all of the witnesses who were close enough to the car to see William Greer shoot Kennedy were themselves murdered within two years of the event.

Shortly after that, Robert Payne Byrd traveled south from Ironton to Oregon County, MO where, according to his CSA service records, he was enlisted in Company F of Colonel James White's 3rd (later 9th) Missouri Infantry, CSA on August 2, 1862 by T.H. Turner.
Robert Payne Byrd, Co. F, White's 9th and/or Ponder's 12th Missouri Infantry may have participated in the bloody Battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas on December 7, 1862 -- his Confederate service records are not clear on this account.
What actual impact all of this had on Robert Payne and Catherine Byrd is currently not known; they were undoubtedly aware that Payne's older brother, William Carroll Byrd, had lost all of his livestock to foraging Federal soldiers sent to Brunot during August, 1861 by then Colonel U.S. Grant in order to punish Southern sympathizers.

I had forgotten about William Benton, who played an important role over half a century ago, until I received this bio of him from John Gehl: The American businessman and politician William Burnett Benton (1900-1973) was assistant secretary of state from 1945 to 1947 and a United States senator from Connecticut from 1949 to 1953.
In 1936 Benton sold his interest in the agency to become vice-president of the University of Chicago, a position urged on him by his Yale classmate Robert M. Hutchins, who was the university's president.
When Benton was secretary of state for public affairs, he converted for peacetime use the U.S. Information Service, the cultural exchange programs, and the Voice of America.
