Robert I of Scotland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His youth is said by an English chronicler to have been mostly passed at the court of Edward I.
As Bruce ran anxiously from the church, his attendant entered and, finding Comyn still alive, killed him (as Robert I, he was later excommunicated by Pope Clement V for this act).
Homage was again paid to him by the nobles, and a parliament was held to elect those who would meet later in the year with the English parliament to establish rules for the governance of Scotland.

 Scotland's Past - robert I 1315 - 1319
Robert did not attack Man but did ensure the loyalty of the chiefs in Argyll and the Western Isles, it would be 1317 before Robert could drive John out of Man. While he was in Argyll Robert founded a new sheriffdom with its seat at Tarbert.
Robert then wrote a letter to Edward calling for negotiations, and this time Edward was in no position to refuse as Douglas and Randolph were still raiding the north of England.
While Robert was out of the country the English had attempted two small scale invasions, one at Lintalee near Jedburgh where James Douglas defeated the Earl of Arundel's knights, and a larger invasion in Fife where William Sinclair, Bishop of Dunkeld, defeated English raiders who had arrived by sea.

Robert's first marriage took place after the birth of several of his sons, but their succession to the throne was legitimized by an act of Parliament in 1373.
Robert rebelled against his uncle in 1363 when David recognized Edward III as his successor.
On David's death (1371), however, he succeeded peacefully to the throne, in accordance with the succession law adopted in 1318.

A consequence of this however, was that his Uncle David (eight years Robert's junior and heir to the throne) was married at the age of four to Joan, daughter of the English King, Edward II.
Now in his thirties, Robert's children were coming of age, and in 1350 his eldest daughter Margaret married John MacDonald, Lord of the Isles.
After David's return, Robert was made Earl of Strathern in reward for his service.

Robert the Bruce - Britannia Biographies
Robert Bruce followed up his outstanding military success by equally successful diplomatic overtures.
English King Edward, with his eye on the complete subjugation of his northern neighbors, suggested that Margaret should marry his son, a desire consummated at a treaty signed and sealed at Birgham.
Bruce was left alone to consolidate his gains and to punish those who opposed him.

Robert II of Scotland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The colleagues soon quarrelled; then Randolph fell into the hands of the English and Robert became sole regent, meeting with such success in his efforts to restore the royal authority that the king was able to return to Scotland in 1341.
Robert had married her in 1336, but as the marriage had been criticised as uncanonical, he remarried her in 1349.
The confusion about the circumstances of his first marriage would later lead to conflict amongst the descendants of his first marriage (which included James I of Scotland) and the unquestionably legitimate descendants of his second marriage.

Robert the Bruce - King of Scotland
His movements are unknown after that until his return to Scotland in February 1307.
He sent his family to Kildrummy Castle in Aberdeenshire for safety, but by September, his wife and daughter were in prison, his brother Neil had been hung and beheaded, and his sister Mary and Countess Isabella put in cages.
So Robert the Bruce, after the death of his father in 1304, found himself in competition for the Scottish throne with the Comyn/Balliol family.

This is not true of his major works, however, and it is his earthly language, combined with a heartfelt blend of fun and nostalgia, which give his poetry a unique freshness and originality.

Biography of Robert Burns - Poet of Scotland
And I will luve thee still my dear,
Robert Burns grew up poor, his father a struggling Ayrshire farmer who did his best to educate his bright and lively son even though not many years could be spent at school.
Rather, Robert Burns achieved immortality through his almost single-handed efforts to reinvigorate the Scottish vernacular through his wonderful poetry and his rescue of hundreds of the folk songs of Scotland.

AllRefer.com - Robert III, king of Scotland (British And Irish History, Biography) - Encyclopedia
Robert III died soon after his second son (later James I of Scotland) was seized and detained in England by Henry IV.
Known before his accession as John, earl of Carrick, he ruled for his father until 1389, when, having been crippled by a horse, he was supplanted by his brother Robert (see Stuart, Robert, 1st duke of Albany).
War with England during his reign was marked by Henry IV's invasion (1400) of Scotland and a retaliatory expedition into England, led by Archibald Douglas, 4th earl of Douglas, that met defeat at Homildon Hill (1402).
