Presidential governments also make no distinction between the positions of Head of state and Head of government, both of which are held by the president.
Though a president in a presidential system does not have to choose a government answerable to the legislature, it may have the right to scrutinise his or her appointments to high governmental office, with the right on occasion to block an appointment.
This leads to the separate election by the electorate or an electoral college of the president, who is elected to office for a fixed term of office, and only removable in extreme cases for gross misdeamour by impeachment and dismissal.

President of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The United States presidential line of succession is a detailed list of government officials to serve or act as President upon a vacancy in the office due to death, resignation, or removal from office (by impeachment and conviction).
Although the Chief Justice of the United States usually administers the presidential oath of office, any federal judge can administer the oath — and even judges of federal district courts have fulfilled this duty in emergencies.
U.S. presidential elections are held every four years.

 Presidential Succession
Exempts an acting President from automatic resignation of his or her current office if such person's service as acting President is based in whole or in part on the temporary incapacity of the President or Vice President.
When the 1945 death of Franklin Roosevelt made Vice President Harry Truman president, Truman urged placing the Speaker of the House next in line to the vice president.
It was not until 1967 that tradition became law in section 1 of the 25th amendment.

Geringer Signs Western Presidential Primary Bill
Political strategists predict that in the next presidential nominating cycle, 63 percent of the delegates to nominating conventions will have been selected by March 14.
The governor said participating states will likely see increased voter turnout as a result of citizens feeling like their votes matter in the nominating process and as a result of increased media attention.
In the past, most western states individually chose too few delegates too late in the process to impact the nomination.

Yost, a lawyer for Delaware County, just outside Columbus, won a temporary restraining order last week blocking any recount there.

And so this reporter, Jeff Gannon, just asked the president for his response, and the White House press corps says, "Something is not right here," because, you see, ladies and gentlemen, an accurate recitation of statements made by Democrat leaders is considered an "attack."...

 Presidential Temperament
The year 1912 was a presidential election year, and former President Theodore Roosevelt was again campaigning for the nation's highest office.
We will comment later on this curious void in American politics, and we will look extensively at one Idealist, Eleanor Roosevelt, who came close to wielding presidential power, and another, Mahatma Gandhi, who was more powerful than some United States Presidents ever hoped to be.
The other temperament, the Idealist, has provided one of the great surprises in this study of character: we find that there has never been an Idealist President in all the two hundred year history of The United States of America.
