Presidentb> ofb> Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Once the Bundestag impeaches the presidentb> the Federal Constitutional Court is charged with determining if he or she is guilty ofb> the offence.
If the presidentb> is outside ofb> the country, or the position is vacant, the Presidentb> ofb> the Bundesrat (this position is rotated among the state premiers on a yearly basis) fills in as temporary, acting Federal Presidentb>.
The modern office ofb> Federal Presidentb>, established in 1949, is the successor to the former office ofb> Federal Presidentb>, although the current constitution gives the Presidentb> less executive power.

Gerhard thinks Ostalgia reflects "the rejection ofb> the new society by a steadily increasing number ofb> East Germans, who are so desperate they forget the shortcomings ofb> the GDR." Maxim justifies "a legitimate desire to defend a lifestyle that has disappeared" but also refers to "memories ofb> a GDR that never existed".

Its work was brought to a standstill by West Germany's Federal Ministry for the Protection ofb> the Constitution in the "Vulkan affair" ofb> 1953.
By the spring ofb> 1953 prisons in East Germany were overflowing with those sentenced under the "Law for the Protection ofb> the People's Property and Other Community Property." Workers and farmers were engaged in overt resistance to the "building ofb> socialism," and basic goods such as butter and vegetables were difficult to obtain.
Its main task was to compile a registry ofb> injustices in eastern Germany for an eventual trial that would be a "new and better Nüremberg." The VOS was formed shortly afterward, in February 1950, by former prisoners in East Germany to promote the release ofb> political prisoners there.
