Irregular Times Rating and Contact Information for Senator Pat Roberts of KS
Rather, Senator Roberts cravenly accepted the bizarre notion that a man with an anti-constitutional record, and who is unwilling to share his point of view regarding the constitution, is worthy of being elevated to the position of Chief Justice.
A score of 100 means that Senator Roberts has acted to support 100% of a slate of conservative, wrongheaded policies in the 109th Congress.

Roberts, R-Kan., and top Democrat Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia wrote the letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and national security adviser Condoleeza Rice complaining that their agencies were moving too slow.
Roberts, on the other hand--a folksy jokester who has been named "funniest senator" by Washingtonian magazine--is a loyal defender of the White House.
Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), chairman of the Senate intelligence committee, said he believed the administration's new case would be compelling but circumstantial -- "the transportation of 'X,' delivered to a shed where 'Y' is thought to be happening."

The panel's Republican chairman, Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas, will pivot off the report in a news conference Friday morning to argue that Democratic demands for a "Phase 2" of the investigation examining the administration's decision to invade Iraq are "null and void," as a spokeswoman for the senator put it earlier this week.
The joint news conference to be held by Roberts and the intelligence panel's top Democrat, Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia, was scripted in advance and was previewed for reporters earlier this week by aides to the two senators.
Roberts, a White House ally, had been at best ambivalent about pursuing an investigation of intelligence on WMD.

Think Progress » Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS): Chairman of the Senate Cover-up Committee
Roberts was one of nine Senators to vote against Sen. John McCain’s amendment banning the “cruel, inhuman” treatment of prisoners in U.S. custody.
First, Roberts said he had “worked out an agreement with the White House to change U.S. law regarding the National Security Agency’s warrantless surveillance program and provide more information about it to Congress.” A few days later, Roberts seemed to buck the President and argued the program should be brought under the FISA court’s authority.
Roberts has made clear both his support for Bush’s warrantless domestic spying program and his contempt for those who question the program’s legality.

Roberts said he was upset that only one Democratic senator, Zell Miller of Georgia, had criticized the memo since Tuesday.
Roberts didn't attend a GOP news conference the next day criticizing the memo.
Reid also said the memo was likely stolen from committee Democrats and that because the information -- property of the Intelligence Committee -- mysteriously ended up in Republican hands, that matter is as serious as Republican demands to find out who wrote the memo.

On February 25, 1999, Pat Roberts stood before the Senate and indignantly declared: "I today voted to sustain both articles of impeachment of William J. Clinton.
But Roberts does not see his primary role as protecting the citizens of the United States.
I so voted because I believe the President is guilty of obstructing justice and lying to a grand jury and because I believe these crimes are so serious they warrant his removal from office."

U.S. Supreme Court nominee John Roberts played a broader behind-the-scenes role for the Republican camp in the aftermath of the 2000 election than previously reported -- as legal consultant, lawsuit editor and prep coach for arguments before the nation's highest court, according to the man who drafted him for the job.
Roberts' spokesperson Sarah Little told Reuters that his "committee would also review the probe of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, who has been investigating the Plame case for nearly two years."

The Raw Story Senate Intelligence chairman quietly 'fixed' intelligence, and diverted blame from White House over Iraq
The Senate and House intelligence committees were created in the 1970s after a series of congressional investigations found that the CIA had acted like a "rogue elephant" carrying out illegal covert action abroad.
Hadley led a White House team to help sift through CIA intelligence, filtering information for Congressional briefings.
More astonishing is that CIA spokesman William Harlow stated that the agency had not obtained the Niger documents until "after the President's State of the Union speech and after the congressional briefings, and therefore had been unable to evaluate them."

Basie!: Frist Loses Another "Nuclear" Ally
With a showdown over judicial nominees looming, Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas could be one of several pivotal Republicans to oppose stripping the Senate of its traditional power to filibuster.
Roberts expressed doubt about the “nuclear option,” which would end a long-running Democratic threat — to filibuster seven of President Bush's nominees for the federal bench — by changing long-standing Senate rules.
Roberts, of course, has not come out in opposition to the nuclear option, but his concerns about the tactic are indicative of a fast-growing belief among Republicans that getting rid of the nuclear option could do them more harm in the long-term than not getting through a few judges.
