Prince Edward Island Premier Pat Binns first made the suggestion following a recent visit from Percy Schmeiser, the Saskatchewan farmer who currently has a court case against agribusiness giant Monsanto under appeal in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Since 1997, Schmeiser has fought Monsanto in court, claiming his canola crop was ruined when genetically modified seeds from a nearby farm blew onto his property and cross-pollinated with his crop.
