 Ontario - Encyclopedia.WorldSearch
Ontario is bounded on the north by Hudson Bay and James Bay, on the east by Quebec, on the west by Manitoba, and on the south by the American states of Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
Ontario's right to Northwestern Ontario was determined by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in 1884 and confirmed by the Canada (Ontario Boundary) Act, 1889 of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
Thousands of party members resigned from the NDP and it became evident that the party was headed for a defeat in 1995.

New Democratic Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This status was regained in the 1997 election, in which 21 New Democrats were elected.
New Democrats are also active municipally, and have been elected mayors, councillors, and school and service board members — Toronto mayor David Miller is a leading example.
Provincial New Democratic Parties, technically sections of the federal party, have governed several provinces and a territory.

Ontario Liberal Party - LearnThis.Info Enclyclopedia
The party adopted a position in favour of uniting Upper and Lower Canada into the United Province of Canada, a concept that eventually led to Canadian confederation.
The Ontario Liberal Association (particularly supporters of William Lyon Mackenzie King) demanded a leadership convention and one was finally held in May 1943 electing Harry Nixon.
Peterson modernised the party and made it appealing to urban voters and immigrants who had supported the Big Blue Machine of Tory Premiers John Robarts and William Davis.

 Bob Rae
In 1996, Rae resigned as party leader and as MPP for York South, and moved to positions in academia and in the private sector.
This, combined with the unpopularity of Michael Harcourt's New Democratic Party government in British Columbia, led to a significant loss in support for the federal party as well.
Rae's New Democratic Party lost to the Progressive Conservative Party under Mike Harris in the 1995 election, falling to only seventeen seats.

Report on Ontario NDP convention : Thunderbay IMC
But the amendments creating a new method for electing the leader, and for having the provincial secretary appointed instead of being elected, did pass.
The most egregious amendment called for altering the system whereby convention delegates elect the party leader to a process where big money and the corporate media would play a much larger role in recruiting uneducated voters to participate in a ‘one member, one vote’ election exercise.
Although the NDP has rebounded from decades of decline over the past five years, it holds only 19 seats in the federal Parliament and eight in the Ontario legislature.
