On October 2, 1967, Thurgood Marshall was sworn in as a Supreme Court justice.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 2, 1908, Marshall graduated with honors from Lincoln University and received his law degree from Howard University in 1933, ranking first in his class.
President Lyndon Johnson appointed him the first African-American Supreme Court justice, Marshall had established himself as the nation's leading legal civil rights advocate.

During October 1--November 26, 2005, the preliminary influenza-associated hospitalization rate for children aged 0--4 years reported by EIP was 0.06 per 10,000.
During the week ending December 3, Nebraska was the only state to report local influenza activity; 29 states, New York City, and Puerto Rico reported sporadic influenza activity; 20 states and the District of Columbia reported no influenza activity (Figure 2).
During October 30--November 26, 2005, NVSN reported no laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated hospitalizations among children aged 0--4 years.

In taking the discount rate action, the Federal Reserve Board approved requests submitted by the Boards of Directors of the Federal Reserve Banks of Boston, New York, Cleveland, Richmond, Atlanta, St. Louis, Kansas City and San Francisco.
The Federal Open Market Committee decided today to lower its target for the federal funds rate by 50 basis points to 2-1/2 percent.
In a related action, the Board of Governors approved a 50 basis point reduction in the discount rate to 2 percent.

I guess another reason I love the winter season so much is because that's when Nick and I fell in love -- awww, I know.
