Wales on Britannia: Facts About Wales & the Welsh
After the American Revolution, in which a lieutenant from Flintshire, North Wales, serving with the British Army in Ohio claimed to have conversed in Welsh with an Indian chief, fresh interest in the Madog legend was rekindled in Britain.
Most Americans are taught that Pennsylvania, one of the earliest American states to be settled by Europeans, was named after the Quaker William Penn or his father, Admiral Penn. It is not so.
According to Welsh legend, Madog ab Owain Gwynedd was a 12th century prince from Gwynedd who sailed westward with a group of followers seeking lands far away from the constant warfare of his native Wales.

On the European continent, notably in the German system, a prince is something more than a mere noble, but not necessarily royal, which makes comparing it with the British system of royal princes difficult.
In the Russian system, "knyaz" (translated as "prince", e.g., Prince Potemkin) is the highest degree of nobility, and sometimes, represents a mediatization of an older native dynasty which became subject to the Russian imperial dynasty.
Although this is the most commonly understood definition, there are also different systems in different countries.

It is my belief that the matter really will never come to a head unless a member of the Royal Family within the direct line of Succession (such as Princes William and Harry) really wants to marry a Roman Catholic.
I'm not sure about the Danish case but the British case is a product of history that is simply too troublesome and complicated to change.
However, it is important to stress that the Sovereign is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, who may have understandable objections to the King marrying a Roman Catholic and producing children also raised as Roman Catholics.
