 Update 27 January 2003
In the letter of 24 January to the President of the Council, Iraq’s Foreign Minister stated that “all imported quantities of growth media were declared”.
One was held on 19 January and a further such briefing is tentatively set for 14 February.
Even Iraq’s letter sent in response to our recent discussions in Baghdad to the President of the Security Council on 24 January does not lead us to the resolution of these issues.

[93] In January 2002, the PACE requested the Russian government to provide another detailed list of criminal cases by April 2002, but the latter made available only a summary of criminal cases under investigation that had little analytical value.
This list, submitted in April 2001, confirmed that the vast majority of serious abuses were not under active investigation but had in fact been suspended.
Roughly half were convicted on charges of murder or rape; the length of their sentences was not specified.

As we've said before, Sullivan has always been pretty brave about tweaking his "big media" employers, at least when they were The New York Times.
But when his letter appeared in the January 8 Times, "gay" had been changed to "homosexual." When he protested that the change fundamentally altered his meaning, letters editor Matthew Rarey responded in e-mail, "Per The Times' policy against Orwellian abuse of the English language, the euphemism 'gay' is not used to describe the homosexual lifestyle."

Per the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, a proclamation that 20 January 2003 be National Sanctity of Human Life Day.
It was 26 January 1998 when then US President William J. Clinton made his now-famous “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” address to the nation, coming under fire from appointed special investigator Kenneth Starr who uncovered the affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
While many people felt that this initial denial, which was then somewhat retracted by the President, constituted perjury and obstruction of justice, I always disagreed with that assessment.

One person mailed us saying he thought that the Intel site's response time had slowed since Intel started using Windows 2003, and asked for confirmation and explanation.
Analysing the response time graph more carefully shows that the connection time and time to serve the first byte are consistent across the two sets of servers, but the time to serve the complete request is significantly higher on the Microsoft-IIS/6.0 servers.

All my roads seem dark at night: The United States Senate has proclaimed 2003 the “Year of the Blues.” New York Times columnist Bob Herbert has the details.
We’ll publish it in hardcover in late 2003 or early 2004, and in paperback about a year after that.
It’s called Old Man’s War, and it can be best described as a Heinlein juvenile whose protagonist happens to be 75 years old.

The opening two, "Horizontals White" and "Verticals Blue", were recorded at the Red Rose in January 2001 as part of guitarist John Russell's Mopomoso series, while tracks three to five represent the ensemble's contribution four months later to the Freedom of the City festival at the Conway Hall.
Davies was not playing on that date, so the group was reduced to a quintet: Burn, Wastell, Russell and Ensemble founder members John Butcher on saxophones and Matt Hutchinson on synthesizer and electronics.
The heady mix of composed and improvised elements that characterised "Navigations", which sought - and found - common ground between the worlds of contemporary New Complexity and free improvisation, is not on offer here: all five pieces are group improvisations.
