 SGA Constitution
Any Senator may nominate another Senator for the position of Senate Leader, after all Senate positions have been filled by election, or have been determined to be "at large" positions of the Senate.
The Legislative Council of the Student Government Association of St. Mary's College of Maryland is a coordinating body for SGA committees and the Senate.
Constitutional amendments are voted on by the Senate and approved by a 2/3 majority vote of the Senate and approved by a referendum of the student body, as referenced in Article X.0, C., of this document.

 RULES OF THE FACULTY SENATE
The Senate Budget Committee shall act as the official faculty advisory panel to the President and his/her office in the spirit of shared governance reflected in the Senate rules and the Laws of the Regents.
The Faculty Council is the representative governing body of the Faculty Senate, consisting of members of the Senate elected according to procedures set forth in the Rules of the Senate.
It shall be the duty of each retiring chair of a Senate committee to call an organizational meeting of his/her newly constituted Senate Committee prior to the expiration of the Senate year.

Following discussion at the annual meeting of the University of Pennsylvania Faculty Senate on April 19, 1995, the Proposed Procedure Governing Sanctions Taken Against Members of the Faculty ("Approved Procedure") was adopted by the Faculty Senate on June 30, 1995, and forwarded to the Administration on August 14, 1995.
Since 1992, various committees of the Senate Executive Committee and a joint Faculty Senate-administration task force have worked to revise the University's procedure by which alleged misconduct by faculty members may be investigated and sanctions imposed in cases where "just cause" is found.
In each situation, appropriate action shall be initiated promptly by a member of the University administration who shall normally be the Dean of the school in which the faculty member's primary appointment lies but who may, in unusual circumstances, be another Dean or the Provost.

 Classified Senate By Laws
Any Officer or Senator of the Classified Senate Council with three unexcused absences during one term will be suspended, and replacement will be at the discretion of the Classified Senate President with the advice and consent of the Classified Senate Council.
Nominations for Classified Senate Senators shall be accomplished when any member of the Senate submits a nomination to the aforementioned election committee.
Classified Senate meetings will be called by the Council when necessary, by petition of a majority of the Classified Senate, or at the discretion of the Classified Senate President.

The composition of Senate is described in Section 12 of the  Act.
The McMaster University Act, 1976   is an Act of the Ontario Legislature.  It incorporates McMaster University and establishes a Board of Governors and a Senate, each with its own jurisdiction and powers.  This bicameral system of university government is in place at most Canadian universities.
The  Graduate Council  is similar to the Undergraduate Council except that it is responsible for the regulation of matters concerning graduate work.   Again, Senate has delegated to Graduate Council considerable power to make decisions in the area of graduate curriculum and policy, admission standards, awards, scholarships and bursaries.

 GW Student Association - Senate
The Student Association and its Senate is governed by a Charter (granted by the University Board of Trustees), a Constitution (approved by the student body), and constantly-changing Bylaws (revised by the SA President and SA Senate).
The Constitution sets up our elected form of government and creates three branches (the Senate included).
