 East Timor--first foreign minister
TEXT: East Timorese independence leader Jose Ramos-Horta says that as foreign minister, he plans to do his "utmost" to normalize relations with Indonesia.
But the job of Foreign Minister will not be an easy one.
Ramos-Horta went before the United Nations in New York to call for establishment of an international war crimes tribunal for East Timor to punish those responsible for the violence that surrounded the vote for independence last year.

 Youth Voice Invited to Give First Minister Their Christmas Shopping List
"We could well have a First Minister of the future in our ranks," she said.
Mr McLeish was joined by Alasdair Morrison, the Minister for the Highlands and Islands, as well as Wendy Alexander, Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning in meeting members of the Youth Voice from Dingwall Academy, Dornoch Academy, Invergordon Academy, Millburn Academy and Tain Royal Academy.
Mrs Thomson praised the young people for the confidence they were showing in accepting their new-found responsibility.
