Topic: Elections in the Netherlands

Elections in the Netherlands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
election is a process in which a vote is held to elect candidates to an office.
Two weeks before the election all voters receive a card in which they are called to vote (this card is the evidence that one is a registered voter and it must be handed in in order to vote).
The maximum parliamentary term is four years and elections are always held almost four years after the previous one.

 Essays.cc - The Netherlands
The Netherlands is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government operating under an 1812 constitution with amendments.
The hereditary monarch, who has had little power in running the government since the constitution was revised in 1848, acts as the head of the state while the principal executive official of the country is the prime minister.
The popularity of the prime minister Wim Kok and his party, PvdA, won the party more seats which were taken from the D66.

 DILACERATOR: The Netherlands Archives
One of the problems is that the law and criminal justice systems in the Netherlands are outrageously lenient, and the law enforcement authorities are all but capitulating to criminals.
There was a big outcry in the Netherlands over the light sentence handed out to Volkert van der Graaf, which even led to one of the judges receiving a bullet in the mail.
This is not something new as there is a general failure, and indeed in some cases unwillingness of the criminal justice system to go after criminals.
