The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Environment, Heritage and Local Government is to consider the controversial proposed motorway through the Hill of Tara and Hill of Skyrne in County Meath (Ireland), Deputy Eamon Gilmore has said.
The committee agreed to a proposal from Labour's Deputy Eamon Gilmore that the group opposing the motorway plans and also the National Roads Authority should be invited to attend a meeting of the committee on April 28th.

The Government is to appoint an independent commission within days and publish legislation within weeks to ensure electronic voting goes ahead as planned in June's local and European elections.
Mr Kenny accused the Government of "unbridled arrogance" in trying to force through their plans for a system "that has not secured the confidence of the main political parties in D&, e-security experts, academics and most importantly the public who will have to use the new machines".

The Labour TD, Eamon Gilmore, has told the Dáil that safeguards included in the National Monuments Amendment Bill are worthless.
Mr Gilmore said that the bill, which contains a provision to allow the Government to sell off national monuments, only gives the National Museum 14 days to investigate and assess the value of any monument or site of potential importance.

 Homeless unit closure 'a disgrace'
The unit, located on Dublin's Charles Street, was closed due to health and safety concerns and no alternative has yet been found, according to the party's spokesperson on the environment and local government, Eamon Gilmore.
"The fact that the unit was forced to close down on health and safety grounds is itself indicative of the official neglect that homeless people and those who provide services have to endure", said Mr Gilmore.
The closure of Dublin's Homeless Persons Unit, which arranges emergency accommodation for homeless people, is a disgrace, the Labour Party has said.
