Judicial authority in Ireland is vested in a supreme court, a high court, a court of criminal appeal, and circuit and district courts.
This is composed of a 166-member lower house, or Dil ireann, and a 60-member senate, or Seanad ireann.
The remaining 43 members of the senate are elected by an electoral college consisting of about 900 members from the county borough councils, county councils, the Dil, and the senate.
