Migration Information Source - United Kingdom: Rising Numbers, Rising Anxieties
Applicants from "safe countries" could have their applications certified as "clearly unfounded" and would therefore have no in-country right of appeal.
Nationals of some countries, such as EU Member State citizens, do not require a special visa to work in the UK.
The Immigration Act of 1971, which favored immigration by individuals "of British stock," including immigrants from Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia, encouraged white immigration from former colonies by increasing the scope for permanent settlement on the basis of kinship ties and predominantly European descent.

Constituent Countries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The use of the term 'constituent country' to describe legal entities which are not states may be disputed by people who consider the UK itself to be a country in its own right and not simply a legal union of constituent countries.
The term 'constituent countries' is used by official government bodies, such as the Office for National Statistics.
Officially Northern Ireland is a province of the United Kingdom, but usage of the word 'province' may cause offence to supporters of a united Ireland (for further information, see British Isles (terminology)).

Each report also compares findings, where possible, to a reference group.  The 27 countries with very low child and adult mortality, designated Eur-A by the World Health Organization, make up the reference group used in this report.
Highlights on health reports are prepared in collaboration with Member States and do not constitute formal statistical publications.
To make the comparisons as valid as possible, data, as a rule, are taken from one source to ensure that they have been harmonized in a reasonably consistent way.

It is assumed that future rates of improvement will be the same for all constituent countries of the UK as for England & Wales combined.
The starting populations for the base year of the projections are taken to be the official mid-year population estimates for that year for each country, as provided by the respective Registrars General.
However, the initial levels of mortality in the base year for each individual country to which these improvements are applied are obtained by adjusting those for England & Wales combined according to the recent mortality data for each individual country compared to that for England & Wales combined.
