 FCC public safety committee meets
The Federal Communications Commission's Public Safety National Coordination Committee recently held its first meeting in Washington, D.C. The fcc formed the ncc to solicit input from the public safety community on the further development of rules governing the 700mhz public safety band, particularly concerning interoperability.
At press time, the ncc was holding its second meeting, and the subcommittees were meeting for the first time.

 700 MHz Public Safety Spectrum
Applications for the 700 MHz Public Safety General Use channels must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate RPC within the area of proposed operation, prior to submission to a FCC certified public safety frequency coordinator.
The 700 MHz Public Safety Band (764-776 and 794-806) rules can be found under Part 90, Subpart R.
These rules allow the licensing of the 700 MHz general use narrowband channels, narrowband low power channels and wideband general use channels for assignment to public safety eligibles, subject to Commission approved regional planning committee (RPC) regional plans.
