Both Republican and Democratic members spoke in favor of the bill, as the result of a compromise version crafted by Rep. Alma Adams (D-Guilford) who worked closely with House Republican welfare leaders such as Cherie Berry (R-Catawba) and Julia Howard (R-Davie).
Nonetheless, it was difficult for Berry, Howard and some other legislators representing Electing counties to accept that their counties would lose some funding.

She was a retired bookkepper for the Marked Tree Water Dept. and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Redd and Edward Redd, both of Harrisburg; one brother, Lilburn Fowler of Trumann; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-granchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the American heart Association.

The father made his way to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 1849 and became a merchant there.

Professional correspondence of Thomas M. Rivers from approximately the end of the Second World War until his death in 1963.
With the encouragement of a biology professor, he entered medical school at Johns Hopkins in 1909, though a mysterious nervous degeneration (diagnosed as Aran-Duchenne atrophy) forced him to withdraw in the middle of his second year.
