Our Own Traditions: anti-authoritarianism in our histories of struggle
Instead we're invited to study the intellectual progression of the social ideal from William Godwin's Political Justice to Murry Bookchin's Post Scarcity Anarchism and a handful of losing confrontations between the forces of state hegemony and anti- authoritarians.
People of color who self-identify as anarchist are caught in strange place.

Anti-authoritarian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anti-authoritarianism is opposition to authoritarianism, which is defined as "concentration of power in a leader or an elite not constitutionally responsible to the people" or the doctrine that advocates such absolutism in rule, as in autocracy, despotism, dictatorship, and totalitarianism.

 ANTI-AUTHORITARIANISM: AN INDICATOR OF PATHOLOGY
This evidence is held to support Rudin's argument that rational and irrational authoritarianism (as exemplified by the F-scale) are independent, and that pathology is related to rejection of the former as well as acceptance of the latter.
In the final chapter of that book it is even stated that authoritarianism is a "disease" to be "cured".
The descriptions of the authoritarian personality which were developed by Adorno, Frenkel-Brunswik, Levinson and Sanford in their 1950 report of the research arising out of studies of ethnocentrism, anti-semitism and conservatism carried strong evaluative suggestions concerning those who scored highly on the F-Scale (Potentiality for Fascism).

Imperialism and Anti-authoritarian Resistence after 9-11
One, the US will support brutal authoritarian governments in small states throughout the region.
Two, these states will be kept dependent on the US through a process of militarizing their relations to their people.
Thus, any group with a progressive or liberal agenda of any sort is finding itself less and less able to play a role in the political development of the region while power splits into a horrifying binary opposition of authoritarian clients of US imperialism, and fundamentalism.

 Libertarian Socialism
The basic socialistic libertarian movement has it's roots at least as far back as the French Revolution of 1789 in the poor serfs who saw through the authoritarianism of the Jacobins (and the bourgeoisie in general) who had used these serfs to overthrow the first and second estate.
In almost every case, the socialist movement has been divided along authoritarian, and libertarian lines.
Since capitalism's early beginnings in Europe, and it's authoritarian trend of wage-slavery for the majority of people (working class) by a smaller, elite group (a ruling, or, capitalist class) who own the "means of production": machines, land, factories, there was a liberatory movement in response to capitalism known as "Socialism".

While there are, admittedly, plenty of authoritarian types on the left (as everywhere else), there are also plenty of people whose instincts are firmly anti-authoritarian but who have been lured into supporting state socialism because it's been sold to them as the only effective counterweight to state capitalism.
These leftists are our potential allies, but no alliance will be forthcoming so long as we continue to confirm most leftists' impression of libertarianism as a variant of conservatism.
For me the case is not primarily strategic, since I'm far more in inherent sympathy with the left's economic and cultural concerns than most libertarians are (and part of the point our panel were making in Boston is that libertarians have done too little justice to such concerns); but it certainly is at least strategic.

Power Line: One man's anti-authoritarian is another man's misfit
At the risk of rendering myself guilty by association, some of what these professors say is consistent with my analysis of the difference between liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans.
This George Will column ridicules a piece by four professors who claim that conservatism is symptomatic of a psychological syndrome that can involve fear, aggression, uncertainty avoidance, intolerance of ambiguity, dogmatic dislike of equality, irrational nostalgia, and need for cognitive closure, all aspects of the authoritarian personality.
Liberal Democrats, by contrast, tend to regard rules as tools of oppression that can freely be disregarded whenever it is in their interest to do so.

We consider that all the revolutionary organisations who choose authoritarian structures internally as a method of relating to each other, and externally as method of struggle, are to varying degrees playing into the hands of the power they are claiming to fight.
In the best hypothesis these organisations would end up defeating the ruling power only to put themselves in its place.
