Handbook of Texas Online: CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION OF 1875
The Constitutional Convention of 1875 was the result of the determination of the Democrats of Texas to eliminate the radical Constitution of 1869.
The legislature then called an election in August 1875, in which voters approved a convention to prepare a new constitution and elected three delegates from each of the state's thirty senatorial districts.
A strong movement to have the changes in that document made by a legislative joint committee and then submitted to the voters failed in the House of Representatives because of a belief that the electorate would resent such a centralized method of providing a new organic law.

"Souvenir of the Palace Hotel" San Francisco (1875-1906)
After the unexpected death of the landmark's innovative creator, W.C. Ralston, in August, 1875, the hotel came under the control of his Bank of California business partner, Sen. William Sharon, and continued to be operated by the Sharon family after his death in 1885.
With his far-seeing judgment, he planned to make the Palace the greatest hostelry in America and when opened on October 2, 1875, it was universally conceded to be absolutely unequaled.
After a $1,400,000 one day run on the Bank, its directors called in Ralston, who by then was President of the Bank, on August 27, 1875, and forced him to relinquish control of the institution.

 Hawaii-United States Treaty -1875
Ratified by the President of the United States, with amendments, May 31, 1875
The United States of Americas and his Majesty the King of the Hawaiian Islands, equally animated by the desire to strengthen and perpetuate the friendly relations which have heretofore uniformly existed between them, and to consolidate their commercial intercourse, have resolved to enter into a Convention for Commercial Reciprocity.
The only excuse for the insertion of such an article into a treaty of this nature would be its relevancy to the privileges stipulated for in the original convention of 1875, to which this is supplementary and the duration of which this convention is intended to limit and define.

The first group of 141 migrants sailed on the Lady Elizabeth from Gravesend on 9th March 1875 with his younger brother, the Reverend Henry Laurence, who had been offered the Geraldton parish, taking passage as ship's chaplain.

 Migrasjon i Troms; Appendiks 1

1875 Beers Atlas, Outline Plan of Madison County
This atlas is one of many that were made for public sale in the mid to late 19h centuries and they are available (from a variety of publishers) for nearly all sates and counties that were part of the Union at that time.
This figure appears at the front of D.G. Beers' 1875 Atlas of Madison County and shows many of the details of the highway and railroad networks as well as waterways in a very accurate form.
The Beers Madison County Atlas of 1875 is unfortunately not as ornate or detailed as some others which can have detailed illustrations of residences, farms, or industries, and many included histories of the townships and communities.
